UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) in Brazil

UNICEF works in Brazil since 1950, leading and helping some of the most important transformations in the area of the childhood and of the adolescence in the country, such as the movement for the universal access to education, the actions for a better life for children and teenagers in Brazil and many other things.

In the last five years, UNICEF, side by side with many of its allies, helped Brazil to:

- Reduce the infant mortality in the semi arid municipalities between 2003 and 2005. In the same region, reduce the number of children up to 2 years old with malnutrition, raise the numbers of children in preschool, create 170 municipal councils of children and teenagers rights and mobilize 1,8 million of children around ambiental education projects

- Help other seven countries to offer universal access to prevention, cares and treatment of the HIV, especially in children, teenagers and pregnant women;

- Improve the learning of children, especially the ones who are more vulnerable to repetition and school evasion, ensuring the production and dissemination of didactic materials and the inclusion of children with deficiencies in schools

If you ever thought of being a UNICEF partner, there are many ways you can help to ensure the rights of each child and teenager to survive and develop, learn, grow without violence, and protect themselves from HIV and being absolute priority in public policies. When you contribute with the programs supported by UNICEF, you help children and teenagers in many parts of the country.

You can choose the best form of contributing with UNICEF programs through monthly or punctual donations, purchase of UNICEF presents, or many actions performed in partnership with institutions and companies compromised with the rights of girls and boys in Brazil
